Are We Animals?
Chun explores the categorization of human based on the debates surrounding the behaviors of humans. Often, it is argued that humans are not animals and animals are not humans, a statement by which Chun disagrees. In his understanding, there are human behaviors in animals and some animal behaviors in humans. People and animals could be sharing particular characteristics. Chun’s work stems from the inputs of other philosophers with the Greeks at the center of the debates. The Greek philosophers were among the first to be interested in meticulously documenting and dissecting human and animal behaviors.
There are multiple positive aspects stemming from Chun’s analysis of how human and animals share characteristics. It provides a clear point when covering behavior. It also addresses one prospect through multiple lenses like intrinsic behaviors, learned behaviors, and emotional behaviors in humans and animals without straying from the topic. The variations in behaviors are what mark the differences even though the targets are similar. Chun's rationale and thoughts about how dinosaurs communicated and expressed behaviors as people know them today are great. From Chun's analysis, learners develop the understanding that humans could be different from animals in aspect of intelligence.
Chun’s video has multiple positive aspects to explore. Primarily, the film is arranged in a highly logical manner. From the onset, Chun asks questions that explain the viewers understanding of both human and animal behaviors. The presenter continues to express the details of the relationships by classifying the different kinds of behaviors as they are showcased both in humans and animals. Ultimately, Chun gives an insight into how humans and animals are behaviourally similar. The film is structured simply and the narrator uses illustrations that help with proper understanding of the concepts under discussion.
There are a few negative prospects to be drawn from the film. Primary among the issues is distinction in human and animal abilities. While the argument is driven towards the understanding that humans and animals share in the prospect of similarities, there are evident differences between the species that Chun has not exploited. For instance, animals are not as intelligent as humans, which makes them inferior in creating and developing prospects. Chun also fails to include the psychological theories of human development, which limits the understanding of human behaviors in some prospects such as variations in intelligence in different developmental stages.
I enjoyed Chun’s lecture and I find it insightful in understanding human and animal behaviors. From the content of this video, claiming that humans are not animals because they are more intelligent is akin to insisting that elephants are not animals because they have trunks. Chun’s presentation is insightful especially with the use of psychological theories that enhance the understanding of the topic. The video also gives an insight into behaviors through multiple lenses, which eases understanding. I will use Chun’s inputs to enhance personal understanding of animal and human behaviors.

The Night that Panicked America tells the story of Orson Welles famed Mercury Theatre's 1938 War of the Worlds radio broadcast. The radio message scared American families all around the country, who thought an alien attack was taking place. On October 30, 1938, Orson Welless, through his company that was a broadcast version of HG Wells, triggered a national panic when they broadcasted The War of The Worlds, which showcased the possibility of alien invasion. The Night That Panicked America gives a simultaneous illustration of the incidences surrounding the broadcast among different American families. The panic was so highly consumed that some members of the public committed suicide in fear of a possible alien attack.
There are notable positive aspects to consider from the content of the film. Primarily, the film is efficiently dramatized and shows almost realistic incidences that occurred at that time. The broadcast triggered a panic, something that every viewer would like to be showcased efficiently in the film. The film also showcases the context, which implies that The Night That Panicked America draws its inputs amidst the occurrences of the Second World War. Having an insightful understanding of individual behaviors to the extent of the broadcast only opened the extent to which Americans lived in fear at the time. The film also arranges its plot chronologically, which allows for the viewer to explore the events and how they are related to one another throughout the panic period.
A few negative aspects can also be cited from the content of the film. The presentation of the public panic is heavily reliant on the television broadcasts. The major scenes of the film accommodated the inputs of CBS broadcasts. While the television aspect makes the portrayals primary, they are not as original as if the individuals interacted extensively with those who listened to the broadcast in real-time. From the inputs of the film, the media outlets triggered more panic by propagating Well’s broadcast than even the inputs of Well’s. Emphasis should have been put on the original occurrences of the broadcast and not the recoil effects through other television and radio stations.
