With reference to the article, child poverty has increased over the past few years compared to other countries that share similar status (Ingraham, 2014). For this reason, debate has risen about the need for reforms in the system of child income support policies. Such policies advocate for the examination on how they provide support in and out of employment, and the degree of coordination required between tax and social welfare systems for purposes of implementation.
According to Barr (2012), he argues that welfare systems that focus on equality can be made just for all, through state intervention. However, if a free society is unable to help many who languish in poverty then it can hardly save the few who are wealthy.
