It influences various life aspects of an individual including relationships, career, mental well-being, decision-making, and overall quality of life depending on the level. For instance, healthy or high self-esteem is associated with increased confidence and self-worth whereas low self-esteem is characterized by a lack of confidence in one's ability and identity, feelings of loneliness, low academic performance, and incompetence at work (Juth et al., 2008). Based on personal assessment, I have healthy self-esteem demonstrated through my confidence in expressing my ideas and opinions, my ability to set realistic goals and expectations, and my handle criticism maturely.
