Supply Chain Metrics and CCR at Starbucks
Supply chain metrics refer to critical parameters used to assess a company’s performance. Starbucks’ performance can, therefore, be evaluated using two of these metrics: critical constrained resource and customer gap. Its core business is coffee processing, and thus the metrics will be applied to the coffee processing procedures.
Critical Constrained Resource
Critical Constrained Resource (CCR) refers to a process that prevents the system from attaining its full potential. In Starbucks stores, the CCR is the order-taking process for the cycle time and the resource. A lot of time is spent taking orders compared to the rest of the process that takes either less time or has more resources to reduce the backlog. The procedure means that if more customers come simultaneously, there will be a long line as the individual taking the orders will delay the rest of the team from achieving their turnaround.
