Inequality in Our kids
In the first chapter of "Our Kids: The American Dream in Crisis," Putman states his thesis while at the same time, narrates the expected concept. This chapter is a condensed version of the entire book and covers why the issues currently facing the United States. The book's main idea is about income inequality that has been observed for the past decades. The inequality issue has divided the economy and created a boundary between the rising generations of children (Putnam, 2016). Chapter 2 of the book now shifts from Ohio to Oregon. Putnam uses the town of Bend instead of Port Clinton, as seen in the previous section. He does the shifting to enable his readers to understand the exploration of family structures in the contemporary world. Like in the first chapter, the author still uses his narrative of brief stories about exemplary characters. Putnam then concluded the chapter by stating how class differences affect children's development in American society (Putnam, 2016).
