Introduction
Different cultures interact distinctly based on their background. The Chinese organization I worked for during my internship would wish to expand to Germany and work with a German organization. Although the intercultural competencies of the Germans and the Chinese differ, they should be able to interact responsibly and successfully after they understand each other's expectations, valued standards, and norms. Germans and Chinese can be compared based on their cultural traits to determine their intercultural competence, also known as cross-cultural competence. Fundamental and crucial to intercultural competence is the capacity to recognize and manage the cultural differences between the two nations. By launching a clothing retail branch in Germany, China hopes to boost sales. It is because China and Germany have a lengthy history in terms of diplomatic contact. Germany is China's largest trading and economic partner, so intercultural communication plays a significant role in the company's management.
Audience
Most of those in attendance work in sales, domestically and internationally. The two companies are interested in hiring them to sell clothing and shoes to increase the number of customers they serve. As a result, sales will increase over time, leading to profitability. When opening a new location in Germany, working with the staff to ensure they can adequately develop their skills in dealing with customers is essential. In addition, face-to-face meetings will help motivate the staff to work together to achieve the company's goals. During the sessions, the team will have the opportunity to address their successes and failures. The team will be kept up to date on any new legislation that comes into effect.
Organizations in China and Germany have a variety of cultural distinctions. Germans and Chinese interact and converse differently due to their cultural differences. First, China is a low-power distance country, whereas Germany is a high-power distance nation. Chinese culture accepts that authority is unequally distributed and is established through the relationship between the senior and the younger. In contrast to Germany, where employees freely challenge their superiors, employees in China are terrified of their managers. In China, the management and elder ranks are firmly delineated, and juniors are not allowed to argue with their seniors (Thomas, 2020). To support this tradition, Fang et al., (2008) observe that juniors are expected to show respect to senior managers. Those in senior managerial positions do not tolerate being contacted by their juniors. In contrast to China, where juniors are terrified of their superiors and elders, young people in Germany can challenge their superiors. It suggests that older people and superiors in Germany can interact with younger people openly and give and receive advice.
Second, time and freedom are important to Germans. It implies that both public and private organizations offer a setting that enables Germans to dedicate their lives to work, resulting in innovation and the development of new ideas since they have achieved more personally. Because of their culture's emphasis on individualism, Germans are known for devoting their lives to work that encourages creative thinking and new concepts. On the other hand, China is a collectivistic society, which means that the welfare of the community and the social welfare come before the welfare of the individual. Because all group members must agree, making decisions in China is a slow and laborious process (Thomas, 2020). Although it is impolite to show one's feelings in public, maintaining healthy relationships with one's family members is very important.
