In the heart of Palestine, where the oldest of civilization's tales is intertwined with today's vibrant beats, music is far more than an orchestration of rhythmic tunes. It is deepened into a channel of cultural articulation, normalized as a part of existence and survival. However, music in Palestine is not just a way of entertainment. It becomes a way of expressing one's feelings in the middle of the conflict and societal issues. This paper explores Palestinian music and analyses how both traditional and modern music in Palestine works to define and reflect on the sociopolitical struggles of the Palestinians.

Palestinian musical folklore represents one of the most valued and cherished elements of the Palestinian culture and unity while serving as the connection of Palestinians to their past in the face of the ever-shifting history. Traditional music remains an effective means for transmitting cultural history, trends, folklore, and experiences in daily life through rhythm, melody, and lyrics inherited from past generations. As part of the Palestinian culture, these songs reflect the Palestinian people's struggle, tears, laughter, and dreams, ensuring that their identity remains bonded through music regardless of geographic location or years passed (Ditmars, 2021; Amiry & Horowitz, 1993).
As the Palestinian culture is being actively dismantled by settler colonialism, music lies across generations as the most unyielding form of cultural resistance, which persists in asserting the core of the Palestinian identity. Every note and lyric forged into music points to the survival of indigenous culture and spirit fighting to defend itself against domination and colonization. Furthermore, Palestinian music performs in the contentious geopolitical context and the tendency of forced displacement; the unearthing of our musical traditions unites Palestinian people across the diaspora. As such, these tunes are a call that unites people during joyful and dreadful periods when they all want to fight and believe they will win. Listening to the Arabic melodies of the oud and the powerful words in traditional songs, Palestinians feel comfort in preserving their culture and identifying being Palestinians as a strength due to the heritage passed down from their forefathers.
