There are numerous nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) that are involved in rescue mission and the provision of critical services that aim at alleviating the problems that people face. One such organization is African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) and its role is to enhance health development in African countries. With more than 50 years of experience, AMREF is considered as the leading research institution in Africa and its aim is to fund projects that target on tackling numerous diseases which people in Africa face (who.int, 2017). It also trains and provides consultation services to support different countries with its mission being to ensure that people enjoy quality health by providing vibrant networks that are managed by providers of health care services. The leadership team at AMREF understands that knowledge is a critical factor when it comes to solving most problems facing African people.
AMREF gears numerous projects across different African regions and shares critical evidence-based knowledge that advocate for radical changes to be implemented in the health care sector. For instance, the 2007-2017 strategy aims at analyzing efficient methods that can link people to quality health services in order to tackle some of the commonly occurring illnesses such as Malaria and other preventable diseases (who.int, 2017). In addition, the current strategy concentrates on empowering people and giving lessons on illnesses in order to enhance tailor-made responses to specific needs of the community.
