What is news?

Topic: Pick ONE news story from the past week (starting Oct. 17) and explain why it is considered newsworthy. Is it a story we need to know about or want to know about, or both? Use the five core elements (mentioned in Chapter 13 - I attached this, please check the attachment) that characterize newsworthy events and apply them to your discussion (some or all may be relevant). Optional: You also may give your opinion on how well the story was reported. For example, was it fair and balanced, complete, accurate and/or relevant?
