Computer technology advanced in the last century, leading to more innovation and expertise in their use. From the first inventions, computers were the rudimentarily large machines that could not fit on tables. They were gradually developed into smaller, faster and more efficient machines. Their improvements prompted the development of other technology, aided communication, and the internet revolution (Sargolzaei & Nikbakht, 2017). Currently, computers are the indispensable driving engines in business operations, healthcare systems, government and administrations, education, research, and fostered globalization. The use of computers has legal, social, and ethical issues. Their malfunction and misuse influenced an array of issues to examine in research. Scholars study these developments and the alterations happening within the same spheres daily. Here is a brief outline of the research that will point to the thesis, interests in the topic, line of thought and the objection to arguments.
The topic for this research is ‘The unending concerns for social and ethical issues surrounding computing’. In this research, the discussion should highlight the most recent and long term concerns raised by scholars about computing. These issues are in several categories, but social and ethical considerations attract multitudes. To do so, a thesis statement should be developed. A proper one for this is: computing has led to several social and ethical issues, that corrupted the moral fabric of our societies.
The use of computers has a direct positive influence in making our societies better. This means we must guard their use, and direct how properly they can benefit humanity other than harm it. Readers of this research paper should care by first understanding the social and ethical issues addressed in computing, study their consequences, and recommendations. They need to understand their limitations in this aspect, explore the risks they are prone to and come up with some judgment.
Relevant issues to address in the paper lie both social and ethical spheres. The first is breaking the bond between people by keeping them in communication even in far places. These encompass addiction to computer games, rising diseases, and extensive sharing of critical information. Ethical issues include computer hacking, cyberbullying, terrorism, computer-aided theft, immorality using computers, among others.
