This refers to humanity's tendency to reproduce more than the Earth's carrying capacity can handle. Upon reading on this matter, I found several interesting points of view on how we should balance our right to reproduce and the future of the next generations. On the one hand, the work by Trevor Hedberg focuses on reducing population to address overpopulation and overconsumption in line with the increasing ecological disintegration. On the other hand, there is also the work of David Benatar, who states that reducing population would be 'morally indefensible'. Accordingly, both of these arguments would make any reader reflect on the thin line between our right to determine our reproductive capacities and our family size and our responsibility to prevent the total destruction of our planet, especially for future generations.
