I, as the manager of the new medical clinic, bears the responsibility to ensure that the institution if up and running in a fortnight and can perform its functions effectively and efficiently. Since there is no director at the moment, the entire burden lies with me. The roles, in this case, including integrating the staff into the network so that there is a smooth flow of activities. Of greater importance is the firm’s capability to ease the load imminent in a neighboring clinic. Consultations between the two institutions indicate the half of the patients in this clinic will be referred here. This scene conveys the urgency to establish an excellent network that is bound to match and exceed the pressures of the job. Since everything at the institution is new, there is the need to have the ability to dictate the direction of the firm and having people follow this lead. As Maxwell mentions, "the true measure of leadership is an influence – nothing more nothing less" (15). Influence is never dictated by the amount of money or power the leader upholds instead, the aptitude to impact other people’s lives positively. In this regard, a bad leader will have lower leadership levels and vice versa. In the same breath, the character of the individual is quite important because if it is high on the list, the rest of the workers will be keen to improve theirs.
Influence in the institution will provide clarity in the shared goal. In this process, every individual will become aware of their precise roles, which are elements of the bigger objective. The personal assistants (PA) will be asked to coordinate and fulfill doctors’ instructions for greater health outcomes. Following instructions is vital since the institution is serving beyond its capacity. Thus, mistakes would be a waste of resources regarding time as many people are seeking treatment. Preventing the arising of such a scenario is important. If the situation matters most, the manager will provide a rehearsed role in advancing the clarity of roles. The PA and doctors are to use structured data to advance care and also ensure that the process is smooth sailing. Such data includes a structured list of how patients are to access the treatment procedure. This move eliminates confusion as patients are guided through the entire process from arrival, consultation, actual treatment, and pharmacist step. The prevalent precise quality goals need to be addressed regularly. In this case, the manager’s role would be to frequently evaluate performance dashboards and offer corrections and reinforcement on various hospital operations.
This law is also apparent in the ethics that everyone in the institution embodies. The manager will enhance enthusiasm among the workers to make decisions that they perceive as crucial. Therefore, they can rely on their conscious to make the right decision considering that the manager’s schedule is tight. Besides, the managers will seek to eliminate adverse beliefs and values for the sake of quality health outcomes (Al-Sawai 286). Eventually, the hospital is going to survive its first day and at the same time, provide explicit healthcare to the patients. Influence is an interactive relationship between the manager, who is the leader, and the employees, who are the followers. The manager supports them in the accomplishment of the goals thereof.
The Law of Empowerment
The law of empowerment follows closely from the one mentioned above, which is the law of influence. This law encapsulates the ability to perceive strength in people may they be subordinates and believing that they are up to the task and expectations. Even then, a leader can find a capable subordinate, build them, and provide them with the necessary resources. Onwards, the leader provides them with a considerable level of authority and responsibility before letting them loose to achieve what they have set their eyes to attain. In such a situation, the employee is encouraged to supersede the expectations.
