Black Panther
The selected piece of entertainment is "Black Panther," a 2018 American superhero film written and directed by Ryan Coogler. Dominated by the black cast and a theme based on Afro-futurism, the movie topped the worldwide box office records following its release. It currently ranks the ninth highest-grossing movie of all time, having won almost sixty-three awards and attained considerable recognition. The film does an incredible job of discussing complex issues like black identity, colonialism, technology, and history.
Most importantly, the movie represents a fictional technology-advanced African country Wakanda: - a nation with the world's richest resources, vibranium. Untouched by colonialism, Wakanda thrives under its own means. Although the scenes are cut illogically, the theme highlights power structure, masculinity, and tradition vs. change adaptation. For instance, in a utopian society, Wakanda still practices hereditary monarchy and mortal combat to elect a leader when lesser counterparts have adopted some form of democracy.
Admittedly, Black Panther is beyond doubt more than a movie. It is an experience that a comic book or movie fan would not find difficult to support. The film has a strong sense of entertainment, and the wide use of dialogue gives it cultural significance. It successfully creates and maintains heroic characters, stunning visuals, and a timely message that challenges the superhero genre. Scenes in Black Panther portray a solid presence of significant acting and storytelling. Also, this superhero genre has a way of consuming its audience and their mind, forcing them to draw in with it.
One primary element of this movie is that it has a predominantly black cast. Films and TV shows diversify with time, but the film's producer's idea of making black people dominate it could set the trend or send a message. T'challa, the protagonist, is portrayed as the Black Panther, hero or Wakanda. Drinking a substance from a mystical flower gives him more power and strength that makes him completely indestructible.
The movie gave the African children a superhero to relate to. Still, it would have been more profound had it discarded race war ideology and focused on the prospect of a natural advancement. Besides, the fact that Wakanda hid its...
