The Honorable Your District's Representative to U.S. Congress
Essay Instructions:
From order \"00016088\" you will need to use that paper to complete this letter. Write a letter to WA State state's U. S. Senators and district Representative (Rep. MCMorris Rodgers) to the U.S. House of Representatives concerning your specific policy.
 Identify yourself as a professional working in the social welfare policy area that you wrote about previously. Identify three reasons why you are qualified to speak about this social welfare issue. (Hmm you could include the fact that you took Intro to Social Welfare at Whitworth University as a fourth reason…hint, hint…). Take your position from either a liberal or conservative stance and note that in your letter. Also include how your faith or spiritual beliefs impact or inform this stance.
 Identify a particular person (real or imaginary) who has a need in the area you have chosen to address and briefly tell that person's story (micro-level). This person will have few resources to call upon to “fix” the problem. The community (mezzo-level) has “holes” in resources that are available. There needs to be a systemic change to coherently address the issue. Remind the Senators and Representative to whom you are writing that this problem is not unique to this one individual but that others are “in the same boat.”
 Write into your scenario how the person's family, friends and local (small) community have attempted to “patch together” help (mezzo-level). Tell how this has helped. Also, let them know what needs cannot be addressed coherently for the larger population that may experience this problem.
 Next, tell the lawmakers what change you would like to see enacted from the Federal level (policy change, funding for a particular program, new law directly addressing the problem as you see it, etc.) (macro-level).
 In concluding your letter, bring it back to the individual and small community you first identified and discuss how these people/systems might be impacted by the change and how the individual's problem could be lessened or eliminated. Also include your awareness that there are often unintended consequences to any policy/law/program change and identify three possible unintended consequences of your proposal
 Express your gratitude to the Senators and Representative for their consideration.

Dear Senator _______________, Senator_________________ and Representative Rodgers McMorris,
Good day!
I am writing this letter of concern with regards to the increasingly alarming state of social welfare in our community, particularly with the case of sexual offenses which have long been a pressing problem in our community
I am a professional working in and long trained in the social welfare policy area where I have been a staunch advocate and at the same time, devoted practitioner. In writing this specific letter of concern where I also wish to bring up my own views and assessments of the issue at hand, I deem it necessary to establish my credibility first as I address you before you can look more closely at my propositions and recommendations.
As I said above, I have been long involved in the terrain of social welfare policy development and proof of this is my involvement in a non-government organization seeking to address areas of concerns and loopholes in existing social welfare policies and issues. In this organization where I work, we constantly undergo first-hand and in-depth lectures and trainings where we are presented with the current situation of social welfare in the country and in particular states and cities. In these sessions, we are given the chance to study, assess and critique the trend of programs and initiatives launched under this platform. With lively exchanges of commentaries and critiques among the participants, we were able to have a more varied and wider outlook on the situation of social welfare in the country and develop a more refined set of recommendations for the improvement of these programs. More importantly, we are kept engaged in actual community immersions where we discuss with ordinary citizens the way they regard and understand the state of social welfare in their respective areas. This gives us a more specific vantage point where we can see the impact and relevance of social welfare to the areas who we believe shall be first and foremost among the considerations in plotting an effective route for the social welfare system. Lastly, I took an introductory course in Social Welfare at Whitworth University during my undergraduate studies and I personally believe that it has provided me with a good foundational grasp of the workings of this process and enabled me to set forth more definitely and confidently in matters concerning this issue. I should add I have been pursuing higher studies in this course as I seek to expand my knowledge and training regarding social welfare. In this pursuit, I have become more accustomed and knowledgeable of the existing social welfare policies in main regions of the world and comparatively study them vis-Ã -vis the ones we have here in the country. In sum, I can confidently claim that I have a wide scope of know-how and relative expertise in this field and the sincerity of my intention to contribute in bettering existing policies in our country shall be undoubted.
One of the lingering problems we are facing collectively as nation in the recent past is the sexual offenses committed by and on our fellowmen. Aside from the staggering statistics, our daily lived experiences will not find it hard to see this point. In the evening news, we are always faced with repeating instances of sexual offenses committed by individuals from various backgrounds and mostly against women and the minors, those sectors of the populations traditionally ascribed with a supposed weakness in character and vulnerability.
In my experiences in my stint at the organization where I am working, it is not new that people would tell, albeit scrupulously and subtly, their painful stories of being sexually offended. I think I should add here that our organization has devised certain measures and procedures to cinch the trust of the individuals we are interacting with and ensure that their stories would be heeded upon primarily for professional reasons and all details shall be safeguarded. This is still subsumed in our overall vision of maintaining humanitarian relations with the individuals whose rights and welfare we claim to be upholding and protecting. We stri...
