Social Media: Self-Reflection on Accomplishments and Opportunities
We have covered a lot of ground in this class over the past several weeks, and you may have felt like you had little time to stop for a breath. That changes this week. Let’s take some time to pause, look back at what we’ve learned, celebrate our successes, and evaluate areas where we can still improve. In this week’s final assignment, we’ll use self-reflection to analyze our strengths so that we can continue to build on them, and we’ll identify areas where we can improve so we can increase our success in our future coursework and careers.

to conduct your self-assessment and submit it for grading. As this is not a formal essay, you are not required to use an APA title page; however, you should double space and pay careful attention to sentence structure, grammar, spelling, etc.
Part 1: Review the entire class, starting with Week 1. Recall the objectives, lectures, discussions, and assignments included each week. Reflect on what seemed to come easy to you and where you experienced challenges. After reflecting on the entire class, identify your top three accomplishments (where you felt you did well; areas of success) and your top three opportunities (those things that were more challenging; areas of struggle). In complete sentences, list these in numbered format below. Be sure to provide specific details in terms of assignment names and writing strategies, etc. Note: You might consider that what was once an opportunity may have eventually become an accomplishment.

Part 2: Reviewing the list of accomplishments and opportunities, tell us a short story in just two paragraphs that identifies how you achieved your accomplishments (first paragraph) and how you plan to strategically tackle your opportunities in the future (second paragraph). You might consider discussing ways you have already begun to grow and improve, in addition to how you plan to use both your accomplishments and opportunities to help your future success.
Part 3: Finally, push yourself to continue to think about the ways you might extend your commitment on the topic you wrote about in the Expository Essay. Using the prompts provided in the Looking Ahead page, write one additional paragraph that expresses what questions still remain for you regarding your topic, what research you might seek to investigate those questions, and the thoughts you have on your emerging position.

Accomplishments
i. Knowledge of how social media influences people’s lives.
I have learned the merits and demerits of social media, and individuals should have time to interact with friends and relatives physically.
ii. Improvement in writing essays.
I have significantly improved in academic writing, particularly in the way I organize my work. However, it was not easy since it involves changing my thinking process.
iii. Understanding the importance of physical social interactions.
Although social media is crucial in learning and keeping in touch with friends, people should not forget the significance of face-to-face interaction. For example, despite communicating with my friends on social media, visiting them once in a while is beneficial for one’s health and mental development.
Opportunities
i. Finding appropriate scholarly articles.
I encountered challenges searching for the best academic articles. For instance, selecting articles to use has been a problem, particularly if the research topic is unclear.
ii. Essay organization.
I had problems organizing my essay to improve its coherency. For example, some of my paragraphs are longer than others since I sometimes get lost when discussing some points.
iii. Approaching a topic from multiple dimensions.
Moreover, I was not able to approach a specific topic from multiple perspectives. I sometimes find it challenging and confusing to discuss a specific topic from different dimensions.
