Retrospective Essay: How Much I've Improved In Essay Writing

Student`s Name Professor`s Name Course title Date Retrospective Essay As I sit down to reflect on my time in this course, my development as a writer has been progressive. Initially, I handled topics that I understood fully. Through the entire course, I have been challenged to handle topics that I even didn’t comprehend. At the beginning of the semester, I could take long hours to handle assignments. I had difficulties with composing ideas about a topic. As I handled assignments, I could draft something shallow and eventually would not complete my assignments or if i did I submitted them late. Overall, the course has not only enabled me to grow and despite the frustrations mostly at the beginning of the course I must admit that there have been significant improvements that I am proud of. Throughout the next classes, my communication skills grew. I started composing sentences, paragraphs, and papers eloquently. I learned to analyze literature using different approaches. By understanding literature using the psychological perspective, I learned about researching extensively. Significance research should be performed in a specified field while relating to the literature. A literature review is the beginning of any research paper, and it places an individual in a position to construct their analysis (Isbell 803). During this coursework, I was provided with other researchers` literature. As time progressed, I began questioning the ideas of other researchers rather than agreeing with their conclusions. I began using writing to discover my thoughts which I found as an amazing tool. I had no clear direction in handling my first paper. I started with an outline that identified thin similarities. Through such assignments, I found writing as a way of gaining new knowledge. The course has enabled me to find writing useful to an individual. The course has enabled me to be aware that writing should be shared with other individuals for their benefits as well. Although I have no plans of becoming a teacher, the skill to put logic in a way that others can understand is very important (Isbell 803). The teaching portfolio assignment helped me to create a document that will be useful in my job research. The class has aided me to start thinking about the practicalities of teaching literature. Professor Perunovic writing prompts and the class discussions in addition to the field experience made everything seem real. The professor helped me to pin down some of my worst characteristics in writing and enabled me to improve in my writing skills.
