Response to the Story: To Kill a Mockingbird
To Kill a Mockingbird is told through Scout’s point of view, although Jem changes and grows a great deal throughout the story. Incorporating at least FIVE of the ten vocab words you chose for your TKAM vocab assignment, write journal entries (one or several) from Jem’s perspective about major event(s) of the story (i.e. after the knot hole is filled, after the trial, after his pants are mended etc.) Note: Underline each vocab word. Below are several examples:
Dear Journal,
Today a new kid came next door. His name is Charles Baker Harris aka Dill. He's living with his Aunt Rachel who, like I said, lives next door. I’m glad to have someone (besides Scout!!) to hang out with and play with. He's also very interested in the Radleys and we have decided to illicitly reenact some of the rumors that we have heard about Boo. We have to do it in a way that’s barely discernible, though, so Atticus doesn’t catch on because it definitely goes against his dictum not to bother Boo. Summer just started and I'm very excited to see how this summer will turn out to be.
Sincerely,
Jem
Dear Journal,
I did something very bad. But I loved it. I feel like I should feel very bad that I did what I did but I don't. Mrs. Dubose deserves it. I destroyed her flowers. I know that sounds silly and writing it down on paper makes it sound ridiculous but I literally decimated her flowers. She pushed my last button by insulting Atticus. She called him a bad name and I became apoplectic and decided I needed to get revenge. And I did! Atticus was mad and NOW I NEED TO READ TO HER EVERYDAY! Ugh! She’s a miserable old toad - always insulting us and Atticus. Well good night.
Sincerely,
Jem
I will post my vocacb
During the trial, Atticus questions Tom and after he sits down, Link stands up to speak without permission. His actions nauseate the Judge, who slams down the gavel as he warns Link to shut hi...
