From reading the novel “Last Night at the Lobster,” it is clear that Stewart O’Nan aimed to portray to the readers the struggles that an everyday person has to endure. As the general manager, Manny has to give it his all, but he is faced with a lot of hurdles (Dixler 24). Manny not only has to manage the staffs that are aware that their source of income is being closed, but he also has to struggle with the customers. His love life is also complicated, but he aims to ensure that everything runs successfully at the end of the day. Thus, what was intriguing in reading the novel was how much one had to sacrifice and offer to have a successful day.
