Michael Menchaca's Biggin Event on October 5th

Michael Menchaca’s Biggin Event
The event held by Michael Menchaca on October 5th in the Biggin gallery was about his main works. He began the show with a video game which contained images that were drawn from the various cultural and historical touchstones of Mesoamerica to create an image-based vocabulary. This was made to challenge the stereotype that exists in the world of gaming. The visual narratives represented during the exhibition were in video installations and prints. Most of the images were a bridge of different contemporary materials and ancient symbols which depicted the current political world. He gave examples of the world has become political by pointing out the recurring appearance of political headlines in newspapers.
Michael explained that his love for video games began while he was still an undergraduate at the Texas University and during his graduate work whereby he studies printing. He said that he always wanted to write stories that were based on his life and this was depicted by the amount of creativity that he put in the video game.
