Laramie Project
Laramie project is a stage play set up to express life in Laramie, the play focuses on the narration of the people of Laramie on how life is at the present compared with how life was at the past. The narrations explains how Laramie has changed from the peaceful nice town it was to a violent place with all kinds of evil occurrences. The people of Laramie have adopted different cultures and this has led to the disunity in the once peaceful town. The focus of the play is on the murder of one of Laramie’s resident by the name Matthew Shepard. Matthew Shepard was murdered on the basis of his status being a homosexual. The murder of Matthew Shepard leads to the investigation about Laramie’s and different people from the area gives their different view of the community.
The mood of the play diverts with Jedidiah giving his opinion of Laramie’s he describes it to be a changed place and not the place he knew, he is categorical to state that he cannot call it the sweet Laramie he knew. Rebecca Hilliker a college professor expresses her fear after the death of Mathew Shepard as she is a lesbian and could not be sure what would happen to her. Several community members give their views about the town and provide as much history as possible to express the changes that has occurred.
