Technological advancement has resulted into the connection of homes and houses with internet sources. Just like electricity, internet usage is a household basic requirement for every home today. The emergence of e-commerce has made it necessary for every homestead to have an internet connection. Moreover, the internet today is serving as a security monitoring surveillance system necessary for keeping homes and houses safe from thugs.
In regards to this, the household quest for a stable supply of internet is neither luxury nor extravagance. It is has become one of the most basic needs just like foods and other clothes. Based on this evidence, this paper seeks to establish whether parents and guardians should limit the amount of time that children spend on the internet.
Every parent is hopeful to provide the household members with internet especially children for studies. According to their beliefs, school going children are able to learn and study more effectively with an internet connection since the world has gone digital. They believe that with internet connection in houses and their private rooms, they can finish their assignment in time and conduct their extensive studies. Moreover, internet connection provides effective media for sharing ideas amongst the school going children (Lee and Young-Gil, pp, 641)
Having discussed the benefit of having an internet connection to the school going children, parents and guardians have a great role to play to ensure that the connection is effectively utilized to benefit the children excel academically. Getting addicted to the internet among the children may compromise their concentration. There are free online videos with negative moral lessons to the children (Mesch, pp, 387). Similarly, children who are addicted to watching horror movies may have interrupted sleep thus affecting their health status.
