The article published by Oliver Loughadd on the Guardian indicates how a superintendent of Lexington, Mississippi began a food drive to feed 6000 poor children using a school bus. Previous research showed that the county was in biting food crisis amidst the spread of covid-19 virus. The only two stores that serving the more than 18000 residents are already doubling, if not tripling the prices of necessities (Laughland, 2020). The administration, in unity with agencies, created a Food Network to alleviate the situation, but they faced a challenge of volunteers opting out for fear of infections. This could lead to the crippling of the strategy and cause chronic food undersupply. From the article, the crisis would exceed their ability to contain and give room for the state government to rescue the situation.
