The material study of ideas is referred to as ideology. Ideological ideas are described as deceptive and false. However, for there to be knowledge proficiency in something, there must be the presence of ideologies first (Nealon and Giroux 95-100). Standards that are responsible for determining new and vast knowledge must be present. Just like knowledge is constant and keeps changing, so is ideology. Something that was once just an idea could become knowledge. History examines how concepts from the past are interpreted using images, symbols, and words (Nealon and Giroux 110-114). These concepts are usually obtained through movies, legal records, and oral history. Current history interpretations are influenced and manipulated by historians (Nealon and Giroux 116-120).
