Introduction
In order to succeed, taking charge of your career is essential. Proper planning and ownership ensure that individual moves in the proper direction and therefore, such a plan and choosing the right company are vital for any person. The enterprise chosen determines the career trajectory for the individual. The paper will focus on analyzing three companies which are Apple, Samsung, and IBM. It will evaluate these enterprises regarding culture, the value of the company in the marketplace and also assess the manner that the companies are run. It will also assess the various employees within the chosen company and the manner that it enhances careers for its employees. An evaluation regarding the provided information will also be included.
Analysis of the companies
Apple
One of the chosen companies is Apple. This is a multinational technology enterprise that focuses on designing, developing and selling computer software, customer electronics, and online services. Apple is mainly committed to bringing the most satisfying personal computing experience of educators, students, and consumers globally through its innovative software, hardware, and internet offerings (Alami 3). The company image is defined by a single core value which is superiority. By being the best in the technology industry, this organization aims towards outperforming their competitors.
Samsung
Samsung’s entire corporate image is aimed at the creation of a better world that has richer digital experience through highly innovative products and technology. The brand is highly beloved and innovative globally and is focused on creativity, innovation and shared value with its customers and partners. Samsung has delivered high-quality products and services through innovation and optimal operation. Samsung believes that ethical management is an essential tool that enables it to respond to the never-ending changes in the global business environment.
IBM
International Business Machines Corporation, which is also known as IBM has a corporate image that revolves around its mission and vision statement which is highly linked to the corporation and also its brand. IBM concentrates on the development of highly advanced information technologies which include software, networking systems, computer systems and storage devices (Brightwork Research & Analysis 3-4). Its global network of solutions and service professionals translates to such sophisticated technologies into business value for its customers. It has also been successful in developing amazing technology to new customers and has consistently been a fundamental resource of much of what has been invested in the information technology industry.
Reasons why IBM was not chosen
Based on the assessment, the chosen companies are Samsung and Apple. Although IBM is also innovative as the other two enterprises, it has been eliminated.IBM has consistently utilized its monopoly position in data processing machines in the process of extracting expensive service fees from most of its clients (Brightwork Research & Analysis 3-4). Additionally, most of their executives have mainly focused on continuously increasing IBM’s stock price over the long-term viability of the enterprise.
Analysis of chosen companies
Apple
Apple’s financial viability has been highly sustainable. The company generates significant cash flow, has maintained a healthy balance sheet over ten years and has continuously driven its top line and bottom line higher on a yearly basis. Recently, this corporation became the first United States based company with a market value of one trillion dollars since it was created. The strong corporate control in Apple has led to the establishment of the hierarchical organizational structure which has supported strong management control in the enterprise (Alami 10). It also has a formal corporate structure which has led to business functions, and product-based groups are properly controlled by the management (Alami 10).
Given its dominant position in the industry, Apple can expand its distribution network, which can help the company reach more customers worldwide. Some of the non-profit organizations that work with Apple include the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, The Water Project and also St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. One of the benefits that Apple employees get is an annual twenty-five percent discount whenever they purchase a computer, iPad or an iPod (Cain 8-9). The enterprise offers similar discounts to the friends and families of employees depending on the product.
