Favorite Protagonist: Sara Smolinsky from Bread Givers The most interesting character that I have read about this semester is the character of Sara Smolinsky, the breadwinner, in Bread Givers by Anzia Yezierska. Strong will, her intelligent mind, and her hardcore independence appealed to me immediately.
