A Night to Remember
The weather was bright during the day and that gave the insight of a bright evening to me, this day was full of events as it was the founding fathers day at the school. During the founding fathers day all student gather together with the community to celebrate the founding fathers of our community. As any other day the school was lively and so much was taking place booming businesses for the day and entertainment activities to the center stage of the day`s activities. Tread mill community was the peaceful place I had known since my birth we almost all knew each other since it was a small community and families used to get involved in most social activities. The school compound hosting the founding fathers day was Tread mill high school where I was a student in my senior classes I also had the privilege of being the games captain in the school.
This day we had games to entertain the guests who had flocked the school in numbers my football team that I held the quarter back was already gearing up to get its first round of show down. Though I was a nervous I really focused to make this an eventful day, as we strode to the field from the changing room my close friend John who I have always known to be cunning teased me to enjoy the sight of the girls cheering squad. A line of brilliant girls who were dazzling as they did their magic stuff could almost be held as a distraction, these girls had been training for this day and they were up to it. As my eyes searched on the group I came into eye contacts with Nelly a girl who was in my history class for a moment our eyes locked and I quickly flitted away though I still felt she was all on me.
Nelly was a girl of middle height and beautifully modeled she was a new girl after her family that lived here long ago got back from Chicago. I met her in a discussion after we were grouped together in a group paper. As much as I had avoided noticing her she was the kind that no eye would pass without noticing her. Realizing that my mind was drifting off the field I slapped myself twice on the face. "Hey buddy what`s up with the slaps?" John asked me as he noted I was up to something. "I nothing man" I answered. The game was a tough competition between two teams in the school we had taken much of our time to practice and though the other team also matched to our skills we had an easy go through on this. The first round ended with a favor on our score board, we were eager for the second half and as we warmed back to the pitch the heavy thronged fans were singing songs of praise to us as the cheering girls swung their bodies as if they were sending some messages to us.
The game was finally over and we had crushed the opponents giving us a bright glory of the big day that lay ahead. It was just midday and the school events would last long till the better part of the evening. We freshened up and joined the rest of the crowd as the program went on. John made sure we went to sit next to the girls that had been cheering us and I sat next to Nelly as he sat with his favorite Claire. For a few minutes we talked about the game with the girls showering us all kinds of praise on our great play, we also had a role to thank them for the cheering and john teased them with comments of the body languages that made us think more. This time we were listening to various history of the community and this was the part that we all did not bother to pay attention to since we had heard enough. Today the school history teacher Smith was on the podium explaining the human struggle with the vampires in our society.
I was eager to listen when he explained how the forefathers of our community had...
