Additionally, fairy tales can help children to learn about the real world by learning about problems and solutions. Identifying with a literary hero can help children to cope with real-world issues as well as teaching them empathy and compassion. • After having read the materials for the week, why do you think some fairy tales are timeless and others are not? What makes some stand up to the test of time better than others? Use examples. • Are fairy tales only stories for children? Is the content juvenile? Why or why not? In the past fairy tales were used most times as bedtime stories with the intention of coercing children to sleep or teach valuable life lessons. Today there are still many fairytales being told with a few aspects of modernity. Ancient fairy tales were originally used as bedtime stories to coerce children to sleep or teach valuable life lessons. Some of them remain timeless and withstand the test of time mainly because they remain relevant to the modern times.
