Student’s Name Instructor Course Date ESSAY Naomi Klein argues that climate change has factually changed everything in society today. According to Klein, people need to reconstruct a society that will go against the endless amassing of wealth by the rich capitalists. According to Klein, the society must approach this change with the basis of other principles like regeneration of life. The society can also try to treat other people equality. For example, employers can try to reduce the levels of poverty by creating more job opportunities for men. With this, issues like poverty will be dealt with. Therefore the reversal of the existing social relations must start immediately with the fight on the fossil fuel industry. When there is capitalism in the society then it means that there will be more carbon emissions, inequality in the society, and more alienation of humanity. In a capitalistic society, workers are alienated from humanity because they can only supply their labor to private systems of industrial production. Workers are treated as instruments and not human beings. People can only survive in this kind of system by selling their labor power. The notions of value and molarity are very different from the capitalists. Using Klein as your Textual Evidence, what is the relationship between capitalist notions of value and morality? Capitalism has caused suffering and violence to people across the world. For instance, capitalism ignores externalities like pollution which is capable of harming the lives of people. Additionally, this system tends to under-provide for goods that have positive externalities like education and healthcare. As a result, there is an inefficient allocation of resources in the society and this causes violence and suffering to people. Floods and fires have destroyed the livelihood of people and displacing thousands from their homes. Climate change is a result of capitalism. Naomi Klein argues that imperial powers have classified people as "the other" humans. The "other" human are the neglected populations who are left behind and others are exploited by the capitalists whose aim is to make profits. According to Klein, indiscriminate economic growth encourages competitive consumption and this degrades the environment and causes suffering to people (Klein, 205). Klein also asserts that climate change has created inequality across the world. People now live in places where there is pollution, there are life-threatening weather events and poverty due to inefficient allocation of resources. People have been denied their power in the society. They have been denied the right to make their choices on what suits the environment and the society at large. Capitalists do not respect justice and human rights. Further, Klein defines capitalism as “consumption for the sake of consumption.” Klein also claims that the economy is at war with many forms of life on earth including human life. Climate change has brought fires and floods that have destroyed the livelihood and has displaced a lot of people. Capitalism has destroyed the planet beyond repair. Klein also argues that if people want to achieve peace, then they cannot ignore climate change as well. Consequently "the issue of climate change is addressed in industrialized countries, the instant response is that China, Brazil, and India are responsible for the carbon emissions" (Klein 219). Capitalism causes inequality in society. The political system among capitalists is not working. The author states that when 8 people are controlling half of the world's wealth, then the people are likely to experience problems. For example, the administration of Trump has caused inequality in society. The administration has also brought the growth of more predatory capitalism that has shuttered citizens and the natural environment disposable. While the main agenda of Former President Obama was to reduce carbon emissions in the United States through the use of renewable energy, President Trump has sought to increase the use of fossil fuel. Trump has also scrapped a lot of environmental regulations especially those that deal with clean air regulations. Air pollution has increased in the United States and a lot of people have died as a result. Environmental destructions have caused climate change. The text states that there is a close correlation between low wages and high carbon emissions. "The use of coal in China was declined between 1995 and 2000 only for the explosion of manufacturing to start again" (Klein, 219). "Companies are moving their production towards China not because they want to increase carbon emissions but because they are after cheap labor but they have exploited workers and the planet" (Klein 219). Some of the activities that have caused climate change are building cheap dams to provide cheap energy for mining and cutting trees. Another factor is death. Naomi Klein argues that in 2017 four environmental activists were killed. When people decide to protect their land, forests, and la...
