Analysis of Lu Xun and His Works
The essay should answer the question in the prompt I posted about how the author criticized the traditional view of "Enlightenment". Although in the prompt there are three authors given, but only Chinese author Lu Xun's work should be used to analyze. I attached the Lu Xun's work, but in the file attached, please only use the passages "Preface to the first collection of short stories, 'Call to Arms'", "A madman's diary", and "My Old Home". Other passages are not included, even though they appear in the file. The essay should be about how Lu Xun criticized the traditional thought of enlightenment with the textual references from his work. The essay should have a clear thesis in the introduction, which supporting paragraphs in the body with clear points, and a logical conclusion. You can relate to the political and historical event in China in that time (e.g. New Culture Movement) to give extra support. But do not quote any outside sources, Lu Xun's work is the only sources to support the analysis. So if you want to relate to the historical and political cultural event in China, use them as a common knowledge. Do not spend too many words on that. In addition, there should be a certain level of quotation from Lu Xun's work as textual support of the ideas and point, but do not quote too much so there's enough space for analysis.
There's some certain points you need to know in order to better write the essay. First is that Lu Xun is not only against the traditional view of enlightenment about reason over self igonorance, which you can relate to the event that he gives up learning medicine in Japan and decide to become a literary writer as he decribed in the "preface", but also he is against some Chinese traditional thoughts and cultures. You can search about this if you don't know. But again, as I said, use these stuff as common knowledge and write in the essay is ok, but DO NOT quote any stuff from outside journal or websites. In addition, the passage "My Old Home" is written in Lu Xun's first person point of view. The narrator is Lu Xun. So do not misunderstand and thinking that Lu Xun is criticizing the narrator. He is against the personal in his hometown, and therefore criticizing how traditional stuff about enlightenment is negatively affecting people.
