The Adventure of the Copper Beeches
The Adventure of the Copper Beeches is one of the fifty-six short stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The whole collection of stories is known as Sherlock Holmes. The Adventure of the Copper Beeches was first published in June 1892, in Strand Magazine. It’s safe to call it a detective story with various interesting and engaging elements.
The story of The Adventure of the Copper Beeches starts with an unusual discussion of Watson and Holmes before the actual mystery begins. It is because Holmes has his cherry-wood pipe out, which leads Watson to feel that the detective is in an argumentative mood. The topic of this debate is how Watson presents Holmes's adventures. At this point, Holmes criticizes Watson for presenting the case in a narrative way rather than as a course of lectures. In addition, he blames Watson for chronicling various cases in which no crimes were actually committed: the case of the beggar, the Irene Adler affair, and others.
On the surface, The Adventure of the Copper Beeches is an interesting and purposeful tale of a secret prisoner. In the beginning, Holmes and Watson can be found arguing with each other. In the meantime, Violet Hunter requests Holmes to help her as she has found some strange thing...
