Abortion is the procedure to end pregnancy. It uses surgery or medicine to remove the fetus/embryo and the placenta from the uterus. Almost half of all the pregnancies among American women are unplanned, and 4 out of 10 of these are terminated through abortion. Generally, 22% of all pregnancies in the United States end in abortion. Although the decision to terminate pregnancy is personal and the procedure may be legal, but is abortion really an ethical thing to do from the moral and ethical viewpoint? Abortion ends the life of an innocent unborn baby by taking away its right to life. It could be risky to the woman if performed after 15 weeks of pregnancy. In general, women should take every possible precaution in order to prevent unwanted pregnancies in order to reduce the high rates of abortion in our society.
