Proponents of Internet regulation might say that it is needed to ensure data security, confidentiality, and privacy. On the contrary, opponents would say that the web is the only place where individuals can exercise their freedom and share their ideas and thoughts with the world. In particular, regulating the Internet is crucial to protect users from various adverse consequences, including data breaches, terrorism, insecurity, identity theft, and cyberbullying among others.
