The Government and the US Constitution
The Executive arm of the government is clearly provided for under the US constitution, under Article II, from section one to four. This is the branch of government which is composed of the president, his/her vice, 15 cabinet departments headed by the cabinet secretaries. According to section one, the president has the executive powers. The president appoints the cabinet members. According to section 2, the president is the commander of the armed forces and thus responsible for the protection of the homeland. This is the branch of government that represents the states in the world with respect to the economic and political interests. The executive also manages the federal government and the collection of taxes.
