Seljuks Architecture
Seljuq art is shaped by the continuous use of "Seljuq" term in ancient literature. Seljuq art covered areas in Persia that were ruled by Gorids and Gaznavids. Persia was not a unified state, and therefore, it could not enforce direct and strict control over lands and towns. As a result, the form, content, and appearance of Seljuq art were developed from the ancient cultural practices in Persia. Persia provided a favorable environment for Seljuq art development because it comprised of numerous landscape whereby many Persian plateau cities and of nearby areas such as Central Asia, Caucasus, Anatolia, and Iraq provided opportunities for craftsmen and artists "SALJUQS Vi. ART AND ARCHITECTURE – Encyclopaedia Iranica". Besides, significant towns such as Gonabad, Golpayagan, and Orumiya attracted artists and patrons' attention. Moreover, the objects iconography and style around Persia had various similarities. Although certain art objects could be linked with social groups, there was no clear distinction between the production of art for the wider market and courtly art.
Morton explains that Seljuq art occurred in a period whereby religious groups such as Islamic produced excellent architecture and art. the Islamic religion used approaches and formal solutions that had been developed for numerous centuries. Moreover, the developments in Islamic religion spread to nearby cities, which enabled the Seljuq period to be considered as among the most significant phases in Persian art, because it resulted in the substantial development of Islamic art "SALJUQS Vi.
