How GIS is being used in the real world

Today’s maps are made with computer software called Geographic Information Systems (GIS). 1) I have created a 15-minute-long flash lecture that introduces you to GIS! There’s an alien in it. Strange exotic animals. Emoji people. WATCH IT. Then . . . (source 1) 2) Find a concrete example of how GIS is being used in the real world! A really great source of examples is an online publication called ArcNews. (ArcNews is published by a company called ESRI that makes the most popular GIS software on the market . . . software that you’ll learn in my GIS classes at SWIC!) You’ll find all sorts of articles in ArcNews describing concrete examples of organizations using GIS to solve problems! Choose one. (source 2) article-https://www(dot)techtarget(dot)com/iotagenda/post/Geographic-information-systems-transform-digital-twins 3) Write and post a meaty paragraph here in this Activity Two discussion board that 1) describes how GIS is being used in your example – a nice synopsis (summary) of the article – and 2) demonstrates that you watched the GIS flash lecture. Demonstrating that you watched the lecture means that your post will reference some aspect of the lecture, relating a substantive concept or example presented in the lecture to some aspect of your article. I will be looking for direct references to the GIS lecture in your discussion. If you do not reference the lecture, then you will receive only half-credit for Activity Two.
