Part 1: Teotihuacan Temple of the Sun Introduction The art piece is a photograph of the Teotihuacan Temple of the Sun estimated to have been taken in the mid recently. While the photographer of the photo is unknown the image represents a high point of modern drawing. This image has managed to showcase the Teotihuacan Temple of the Sun in ancient Mexico without missing details. The pyramid built around 100CE was the largest pyramid in the ancient city of Teotihuacan, Mexico. Astronomically aligned to the mountain just as Izapa’s earlier (500 B.C) pyramids were astronomically oriented to the mountains. The above Teotihuacan temple of the sun photo is categorized under modern photography. To gain the entire view of the ancient structure the photographer probably utilized the high angle and long shot techniques. Stylistic Characteristics One aspect of photography is the ability to create emphasis and the illusion of light. Photography has fast evolved and unlike the first colored images of the early 1900s, today’s images are much clearer. Images like the above capture high contrast colors in order to emphasis parts of the image and low contrast to also add background and dimension. Image in figure 1 can be said to serve as a commentary of the early Mesoamerican cities. In highlighting modern renovation of the temple, the artist has managed to play with contrast and value (Li). Value in photographs create an illusion of vibration and subtle effect for the eye. The image is taken from an aerial angle and has typically managed to comprise everything about the temple with clarity and precision. Black and white aspect could not have worked for this photo and adopting an architectural style with rich colors helped lead viewers eye and drawing attention to some of the key part of the photo. Categorized as exterior photography, there is greater benefit from the wealth of natural light. As seen in the photo, the image enjoys the advantage of natural light – the cloud is vividly clear and colored, trees have their natural color and everything in the surrounding including pavements occur naturally. Through color there has been an overall skill of the photographer to appeal to senses and blur distinctions between different features. Through elevation the photographer captures the pyramid which stands at the center of the image and everything else in the surrounding, so as to draw a connection (Pasztory). For example, the landscape largely connects to the pyramid and must therefore be captured to help viewers get a glimpse of the design and concepts of Teotihuacan Temple of the Sun structure. Stylistic Significance and Influence Ideally, color in photography is highly impactful. Through color many artists realized that it was possible to take images that evoked subtle illusionistic effects. There is a great emphasis on color and evolution in photography is all about creating images that clearly indicated contrast between target object and the background (Pasztory 283). More so, with advancement in photographer lies the dilemma of using perspective and other photography techniques to produce beautiful images or showcasing scenes as they are for realism and authenticity. Photographers face scenes with high color contrast ranging from the artificial sources of light to contrast range which often times exceed that of camera or digital sensors. Conclusion In conclusion, elevation style of approach in photography serves as an extension of architectural craftmanship, and in some ways...
