Relationship between Africa and Western Countries: Should African countries disengage from Western countries to achieve development?
Introduction
African countries should not depend highly on the developed countries since the well-up countries take advantage of the underdeveloped countries. For instance, tycoons from developed countries motivate war in African countries to have access to resources in Africa continent. Such tycoons take essential minerals such as copper, diamond gold, among others from the underdeveloped countries. For example, according to Rostow's theory of dependency states that resources go to the rich from the poor or underdeveloped countries (Black, 2018). Although the developed nations exploit African countries, they have to cooperate with them. Mostly, the states have to cooperate since no country or continent can depend on itself. However, developed nations should avoid taking advantage of third world countries.
Consequently, the underdeveloped nations should mainly concentrate on developing their economy (Ghosh, Baidyanath 34). The African countries can manage to build their economy if they utilize the resources in their land. For instance, most of the manufacturing raw materials are from Africa but are used in the developed nations. Therefore African countries should train their expertise to manufacture machines and export them instead of importing devices. There has been a trend that the developed nations get raw materials from Africa at a lower price. After getting the raw materials from Africa they sell the finished product at a higher price. It is an indication that developing nations have a higher potential than developed countries.
If the developing nation uses the potential, they have according to the central periphery theory; they can overtake the developed countries. Underdeveloped nations ought to educate their population to they make maximum utility of their resources. Through such a step, the developed nation cannot take advantage of developing countries (Allen, George Cyril 304). Nevertheless, when the developing nations overtake the developed nation, they should continue to cooperate with the rest of the World to ensure peace and sustainability is maintained.
No nation can sustain itself without the help of other states. Therefore, it cannot be said that African nations cannot depend on western nations. However, the relationship between each has to be mutual (Flahaux, Marie-Laurence, and Hein De Haas 1). Thus, the countries within the World ought to cooperate for the globe to develop. However, to make sure that the World is stable and no one is poor, the World has to cooperate without taking advantage of each other. Europe up now is still controlling most of the African countries under the commonwealth. The issue is that the queen still believes that all its colonies are still under British control. Such a belief makes British Empire think that it owns most of the African countries. As a result, the Queens Empire give directives to its citizens to invest directly within its colonies.
Subsequently, investors and tycoons from western countries take advantage of the situation. Therefore, if leaders like the queen and other superpowers eliminate such a directive, it is possible to reduce the discrimination against the underdeveloped states. Furthermore, there should be international policies and regulations that eliminate the export of some of the valuable minerals from the developing nations. Instilling such rules ensures that tycoon from the developed countries does not take advantage of the developing nations.
Moreover, the World should take the initiative of educating the underdeveloped nation population. Such action ensures that the underdeveloped nations can manage to utilize their resources to the maximum (Mahoney, James, and Diana Rodrнguez-Franco 45). Africa and other developing nations have many resources that are still underutilized due to a lack of expertise. Hence, it is essential African countries cooperate with western nations who have the know-how to current technologies. However, when delivering knowledge to the underdeveloped countries, the developed nations should not take advantage of the countries they are assisting. For instance, some of the developed countries train individuals from developing countries and later incorporate them into their system. The condition has made of the African and developing nations to have a brain drain. Brain drain is the condition in which abroad countries take intelligent individuals at higher pay from less developed nations.
At some point, Africa and the underdeveloped nations should disengage from ...
