Data Collection
The data collection process for this research focuses on the use of mixed methods for determining the process of curriculum development on campus. Contrary to previous studies, this research utilized a mixed-method to uncover the gaps in previous (and past) methodologies by combining representativeness (quantitative) and in-depth analysis (qualitative) in the data collection process.
Data Gathering Process
The data gathering process for this research utilized qualitative and quantitative methods to supplement the results taken by each method. Previously, analysis and understanding of feedback regarding alumni students' curricula were mainly based on quantitative data collected through surveys. However, studies show that a secondary data collection model that utilizes a qualitative approach is helpful, especially in clarifying issues and questions that are vaguely answered by quantitative methods. Thus, the authors of this research utilized both methods to cover gaps previously made using old models used for the same kind of analysis.
On the one hand, the authors used a quantitative method to make sure that the data was representative of the sample population. Representativeness of the population is one of the main reasons why studies that seek to find a trend utilize email surveys within a sample population. Thus, in this study, email survey and secondary data were both collected from the year 2018 onwards, with a primary focus on determining trends, response rates, and report o themes relating to the curriculum used by the school and its relation to the ‘readiness’ and ‘preparedness’ of students when they graduate.
