This assignment is an essay on the class Music Appreciation, there are 3 topic you can choose from the instruction, and please do read them carefully. This essay need to be MLA format, and please include a citation page and in-text citation if you need to use other source and every source needs a author. However some the the topic reuqires the crouse content I have studied, so I recommend the topic 1, which this topic only need you to do some resarch on.

You should choose the topic no.1 because I cant give you the note from the class in order to let you do the topic 2 or 3. So, for the topic no.1 try to figure out what is program symphony, and the back ground of Symphonie fanstastique. I believe you can find the source on the internet.

1. In the spirit of Berlioz and his Symphonie fanstastique, plan a program symphony of your own! What is the subject/story? What is the title? How many movements and what would each be called? What would the story within each movement be? Describe, in general, what the musical attributes of each movement would be for each movement. Would you have an idée fixe? My Program Symphony
Program symphony is a multi-movement configuration that contains more melodic composition that makes listeners pay attention to a fictional or pictorial connotation. Hector Berlioz offers comprehensive information concerning program symphony for the Symphonie Fantastique. The data is used to demonstrate the practices of young artists, as illustrated in the conformation of the program (Smith 4). In essence, the program melody was renowned in the 19th century, and it played an essential role in the entertainment industry. Program symphony has distinctive movements that compare between slow and fast and the implementation of the sonata in the allegro from which it is popularly known as a symphony (Abbott 76). In the music jargon, the meaning is used to illustrate some imagery or enhance a thematic concern of particular music. “My Life Experience” is the symphony that I created, and it improved a better understanding of the content and the topic on program symphony, as depicted in Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique.
Fundamentally, my symphony program covers four movements as it is in the traditional symphony. The first movement is “Visiting Harvard University” the second movement is “Four months in Tacoma,” the third movement is “Meeting my Friends,” and the last one is “Coming Home.” Mostly, all the movements would play a critical role in the development of music. For instance, the first movement would be an inspiration. The second movement would designate motivation, and the third movement would indicate the form, such as the introduction, the exposition, and the theme. The third movement would note the development while the last one would show the recapitulation (Partner 234). All the stories in all the movements would end by stating the theme of the entire symphony.
