Why Study Diversity And Writing Together?
For this assignment, you will write an essay that answers the question, "Why study diversity and writing together?" in some way. Some questions you can explore to write this essay include:
● What have you learned about writing throughout the course of the semester? What have you learned about diversity in the United States? What are some connections between the two?
● How do culture and identity connect to or influence writing? Put another way, how does writing influence culture and identity?
The form of the essay is up to you. For example, you could write a personal essay that tells a story about how diversity and writing impacts you. Or, you could write an argument that persuades a reader about the importance of considering diversity when thinking about writing. You might use personal experiences or another essay to support your points.
Whatever form you choose, however, you must quote from at least two other sources, have in-text citations, and a works cited page. One of these sources must be one of your four unit essays from this semester. Draw from the knowledge you have built over the course of the semester about developing your ideas, organizing ideas, integrating quotations, and more.

Diversity means understanding that each and every person is unique and recognizing our individual differences. The differences can be along the dimensions of ethnicity, age, race, religious beliefs, political ideologies, and gender among others (Griffin, Kimberly, and Jeni 2016 p. 1). The concept of diversity embraces acceptance and respect. Diversity is about eradicating all forms of discrimination through building alliances across our differences. Students writing on diversity will write something unique about themselves as individuals, yet it will be something that resonates with others. This will enable students to discover more about others and themselves through writing. This paper is meant to discuss the connection between writing and diversity.
Writing is a form of communication whereby the writer puts his thoughts and ideas inform of letters, numbers and symbols. Writing is a gradual that in most cases improve with time. The environment in which a writer lives influences his ideas and ways of thinking that in turn impacts on what he writes. Students can be best writers when they are writing about something they know and want to know more about and something that appeals to them.
