In the past few years, U.S. writers in most of its newspapers, magazines and other publications have highlighted stories of specific students who intentionally declined to attend colleges. The same groups of persons have some percentages that rarely complete college education. This raises the question on the value of higher education, defining it and how is it a priority to individuals. This is quite different when we think of the increasingly growth and administration of free online links which offer short-term and long term courses. Such programmes are offered by top university professors around the country is also being widely acknowledged. Different articles have been done on evaluating if the college education is cheaper. In order to decide whether senior education is significant to the investment, it is practical to look at what is known concerning the value of higher education, rates of return specifically on investment to individual and the entire society (Kathleen 2002).
I would like to use a few guiding questions to brainstorm the value of education in the world. Is the school quality and attendance declining? Should organizations that rewards and support college drop-outs be encouraged? Is college affordability friendly? And finally are the bachelor’s degrees contrary to most the job openings?
The bottom-line of the matter is that the curriculum of education should be made relevant for the 21st century. This is essential instead of making a quick conclusion that value of a college education is totally on the decline.
