Sinatra and television. Communications & Media Essay
For this paper, you will comment on Sinatra as a television
personality. Citing specific moments from the material we saw at the Paley
Center, write a two page paper that answers such questions as the following.
How well in your opinion does Sinatra take to the medium of television?
Does Sinatra bring to television performance the same style and meaning he
has in his songs and in film? Even though we’ve seen Sinatra succeed in a
variety of media, Paley curator Ron Simon argues in his essay on the
television work that Sinatra didn’t come off well on TV, especially in his
first shows. Please cite specific scenes or evidence in your response.
Please cite specific scenes or moments that for you show Sinatra
coming off well or not on the medium of TV. How do you think the
medium of television, especially liveness, shaped Sinatra's performance
style?
What, overall, is your impression of Frank Sinatra as a TV personality
and what in the clips we saw specifically led you to that conclusion?
For all of this, try to not provide simply a subjective evaluation (I
liked him, I didn't like him) but a well-argued examination, based on citation
of individual moments from the TV material, of Sinatra's engagement with
television as popular medium generally, and of Simon's article.

Right after the success of his debut album, Francis Albert Sinatra appeared on television in his own series titled The Frank Sinatra Show. His performance was liked by the world’s people. Sinatra was mostly appreciated for his impressive understanding of both music and television. His dress sense and blue eyes made him a favorite of TV audiences. In 1951, the second season of The Frank Sinatra Show got Francis Albert Sinatra a lot more success despite the fact that he thought he was not getting as much fame as he had hoped.
In his essay on television work, Paley curator Ron Simon can be found arguing that Francis Albert Sinatra did not perform well on television especially in his first few shows.
