Since the explosion occurred, PG & E has taken steps to ensure continued safety of San Bruno residents, other areas where the company operates. It is a regrettable event that was unforeseen, and hence we have resolved to offer support to victims, their families and the community. PG & E does not believe that there was negligence on the part of employees, but legal proceedings have laid out the facts and we will work on these reviews. The company supported the full recovery of the San Bruno neighborhood after the initial explosion. Additionally, since 2012, funds in the $ 50 million trust are already being used for repairs to cover costs of the accident, and provide staffing needs for the recovery efforts.
On the company’s part, the mistake should not have happened, but continued safety measures will ensure that PG & E will improve relations with investors who still have hope on the company’s sustainability efforts. Besides the compensation funds, the company is using media campaigns to regain confidence with residents of San Francisco, with staff committed to the safety measures already undertaken. It is the company’s sincerest intention to continue engaging with all stakeholders through the social media, and through briefings PG & E will highlight on some of these suggestions from all the stakeholders.
