Rags is a musical film that stars Charlie Prince, an orphan, and Kadee, who both are singers. Charlie lives with a stepfamily that has two sons who are pathetic singers, and their songs are rejected, but their father, Arthur, does not see that. Charlie lands himself a job as a janitor in Majesty Records. Charlie hides his talent, and every time he performs disguised. Kadee, on the other hand, is forced to live a life that she does not like. She sings songs that are chosen for her and wears clothes that are picked for her. She meets Charlie, who gives her moral support. The film ends up with the two in a relationship and happy after Charlie reveals that he is the mastermind behind Rags (Thakore 93).
This opened up my insights in many ways. I learned that we need to let people have the freedom to choose what they want. Kadee is living a life that she does not like, yet there is nothing much she can do. Parents and guardians need to leave their children to choose their happiness.
