Before Trilogy; Sunrise, Sunset and Midnight
Eunice Kathleen Waymon born in Tyron, North Carolina, the United States in 1933 is a multi-talented artist who adopted the stage name, Nina Simone. At the age of three, Nina already showed interest in music and prompted her parents and teachers enrolling her in a piano class. She continued with excellence in these sessions until love for classical grew, that became her forte. Despite financial constraints in her pursuit to respond to the musical goddess calling her on the world stage she manoeuvred her ways around and became one of the greatest. Her contribution was greatly admired in the music genre as a singer, songwriter, musician, arranger and civil rights activist. Her choice of genre varied widely with tunes majorly in folk and classical though her voice resonated well in jazz, blues, pop, rhythm and blues and also her childhood love for the gospel (Unknown, 2018).
Her song, Just in Time, in the film Before Sunset's final scene, is so crucial. It vibrates with every theme of limited time, uncertainty muffled by violent despair threatening love the viewers would love to see blossom. Linklater's choice of this song reminds the audience of liberation and freedom Celine and Jesse should embrace for their love to blossom. It sets the mood for hope in their love narrative such transcending immature love; as met in events of the earlier film (Before Sunrise). It is nine years later and everyone deserves a second chance after the last romantic encounter, as Celine's heart cries out that love deserves it too. Through this song, I have realized the importance of love. Through love, an individual gets the drift. Love is an incredible feeling. Love is one of the pinnacles of existence in our lives today. Love is a form of commitment, dedication and passion. I can say that I also believe that human happiness is directly proportional to love. As human beings, we cannot buy happiness because happiness had to be created. I believe that as human beings, we all deserve a second chance in everything.
Before Trilogy is one of the most romantic love stories because it instils with the weight of time. In the three films, love is constantly limited...
