From this perspective, memory would hardly mean any less than the social, cultural, and cognitive modes through which ancient societies treated their dead and how they remembered them. The real world of archaeological discoveries has seen the deceased’s ashes commonly kept in crematories, portraying an intentional endeavor to keep up a material association with the dead. Consequently, an individual can speak about the cremation ritual as a means of memory aid, which ensures the retention of the memory of the deceased by changing their physical remains. This ritualistic symbol represents the dualism of the view of a mind and a body (Cradic, 2017). Such an arrangement of matching remains may serve as a memorial point to memorize the dead as a group.
