Quarantine With My Family and Children Doing Remote Learning During Covid-19 Lockdown
When the first Covid-19 cases were reported in our country, I never knew the situation would escalate to an extend where the country would be placed on lockdown. I have never experienced another pandemic in my lifetime or an event that would guarantee a lockdown. This was a strange occurrence that caught every person by surprise. Ever since is I started going to school, I don’t remember the last time I spend much time with my family other than during the summer holidays because I have been busy with school.
The day the lockdown was implemented, I could not believe it was happening until days later when I realized all we could do is stay at home. The streets were no longer filled with people like they used to be. Every person could sense the tension created as the media houses kept on announcing the new number of corona cases in the country and the number of deaths. During this time, the number of deaths in China and Italy was increasing at an alarming rate. I could not believe that a disease could cause so much sudden deaths within a short period. The whole situation seemed like an apocalyptic movie. Unfortunately, it was the reality was to live with for an unknown period.
Days went by and we were gotten to staying in the house the whole day. I was working and learning from home and I could say this was not one of the best experiences I would have wanted. Whenever my kids are in the house, I always feel like I do not have much free time to work and study. The whole experience was hectic for me because my children kept on disturbing me when I wanted to study or work. Given the situation we were in, no one wanted to have visitors in their home.
