Quality Project management
A project is an undertaking having a specific beginning and end and is usually constrained by time and resources undertaken to achieve certain goals and objectives. Project management is the discipline of planning, organizing, determining resources, and managing them to bring about a completion of the project and attainment of its goals and objectives. Project quality assurance plan is essential in achieving quality management in a project. A definition of the quality goals and a discussion of the plans that have been laid to achieve the goals should be initiated. The risks that face the project should also be focused in the quality assurance plan and in addition the approach should be discussed fully and high standards set for attaining.
Quality management is integral to the project. This aims at ensuring that the project team fully understands their role in achieving the quality goals set. Quality management will also focus on the project manager to ensure that she/he ensures quality in the project.
The quality measurements, metrics and controls are key in quality management. A qualitative/subjective and /or quantitative assessment should be periodically conducted. Monitoring and reporting of the quality status should be done during the periodic reviews of the project.
A continuous improvement in quality should be done through out the project life cycle. A continuous communication of the project goals is necessary for the project to work better. Project planning is also essential so as to accommodate the future improvements.
However, the planning and management activities that ensures that the output of the project conform to the requirements and also satisfy the customer, depend on the quality goals set. The understandability and measurability of the goals is an important factor to consider during project management (Bruce, 2001).
Quality Assurance and Its elements
The success in project management is not in the implementation stages only. It stretches further to the post implementation stage of quality assurance.
The Quality of a project can be referred to as the achievement or satisfaction of the expectations of the project initiator by the activities performed to achieve those deliverables. Project quality assurance can be referred to as the prior activities at the beginning of the project that contribute to the achievement of satisfactory results in the project being carried out. Consequently, a project plan defines these tasks to contribute to products while aiming at achieving customer’s estimation of quality. These tasks are defined by the principles set by the party delivering the product.
Project Quality Plan determines the Quality standards required for success of the project and establishes how they can be met. The plan incorporates execution of quality procedures using quality materials that the organization is able to access. The maintenance of the Quality Event is referred to as Quality Control. Quality metrics are then used to improve quality thus contributing to the list of new discoveries (Kenneth, 2005). The preparation of quality plan and formation of the standards required by the organization is referred to as Quality Assurance.

Management responsibility describes responsibility of all stakeholders. Once this is done, documented Quality Management System follows. This entails present quality procedures that have been standardized and used within the organization. Design Control is the criteria for review of design, sign off, and design Changes and Waivers of necessities. Document Control involves the process of managing project documents at each stage. This is followed by Inspection Testing which chiefly involves the plans for acceptance testing and Integration Testing.
Nonconformance involves the procedures to tackle any instance of nonconformity. Here, responsibilities are defined, conditions of required documents determined. This is followed by corrective action in which corrective measures are taken for any deviation from the expected results.
Quality records refer to the procedures for ensuring that quality in record keeping is attained. Quality Audits involve auditing and assurance that proper checks and balances are present in the project. Finally, training of the project management team is done.
During development of a Project Quality Plan, the team is required to involve in much communication .This enable cohesion resulting into awareness of possible quality assurance. Due to this awareness, project managers are able to plan and act in a way that counter any constraint or difficulties in the project execution, thus allowing effective achievement of quality standards.
