This paper critically analyses and brings forth reasons why various known models of decision making for individuals fail under stress. Among the notable decision making model are; rational models, intuitive models, rational-iterative models, six, seven and nine step decision models. It has been noted that leadership and responsibility cannot be separated from one another and what defines and links the two is decision making. According to Vandergriff (2008), decisions are at the heart of leadership and often a matter of life and death defining success of leaders.
According to Hogan, & Craig, 2008, leadership refer to a process whereby an individual has the ability to influence thoughts, ideas and actions of others in achieving a set of preset goals, tasks, duties and responsibilities
Stress according to Kathleen & Vaught, (2005) they thought of as a self-protective physiological response, resulting to human brain to think consciously and making decision. Symptoms of stress that affect the process of thinking play major role in causing failures of when known decision making model.
