The designed app is critical to serving the needs of foreign students in the United Kingdom (UK). In particular, it fosters socialisation or interactions among international learners, exchange of second-hand items, accessibility to accommodation information, management of daily needs, automatic translation via DeepL translator, and enhancing seamless integration into university life in the UK. As such, without conducting user testing, it would be challenging to know whether the app meets all the above primary functions. Notably, user testing focuses on how well the targeted population can use the app so that it can be easy to determine whether they are satisfied with the product (Abuaddous et al., 2022). In this scenario, user testing was done to determine the user-friendliness of the app and the things that need to be improved to facilitate easy navigability and the achievement of the set goals and objectives.
Since the established app prototype was followed carefully, many functionalities of the app were found to have been met during the user testing phase. The outcomes of the user testing were outstanding. For example, the homepage, map, community, and trading were easy to navigate. The only page or module that needed improvement was the profile. Some users raised concerns about not including personal settings on this page if a dropdown menu was not to be used since it would be confusing.
